The Mexican Army defeated the French Army.

This was an important win for Mexico because of the following reasons:

• French army had approximately 6000 men

• Mexican army only had approximately 4000 men

• French army was rich and had fancy uniforms and lots of weapons

• Mexican army was poor 

 

Even though the Mexicans had less men fighting and less weapons, they were able to defeat the French!  They protected their land in this important battle.
